We are proud to announce the launch of Platanos College Sixth Form.

Ms. Tapper, CEO of The Platanos Trust welcomed the students and staff and told the students that they are the very first students of the Platanos Sixth Form College and would never be forgotten.

Mr. Whyte, Chair of Trustees said he was honoured to be at the ceremony. “On behalf of the Trustees, it had been a ten-year plan of action to ensure that the Vision of the Sixth Form became a reality. Trustees wanted a small Sixth Form to ensure that local learners could be educated in the same school from the age of 11 to 19.”

Ms. O’Connell, Director of Sixth Form said “As the newly appointed Director of Sixth Form, I am motivated to support our students in achieving the future they want for themselves, whatever that may be. A dedicated Sixth Form Team will work collaboratively with all students to ensure that they have a safe, successful and inspiring experience at Platanos College Sixth Form.”

Ms. Kendall, Assistant Director of Sixth Form said “Her work (and the work of others) would support students to become the best versions of themselves and that she felt honoured to be part of the Sixth Form team.”

Mohammed – Student “I am looking forward to the freedom and range of opportunities that come with being at Platanos Sixth Form.”

Olive – Student “I am nervous but excited about my Sixth Form journey. I am also enjoying the induction sessions.”

Yasin – Student is studying A Level law, history and sociology. After he completes Sixth Form, he is considering a career in Law and is researching potential universities that offer high-ranking Law courses. “I decided to stay at Platanos College for my Sixth Form journey because it is a place that I know. It has a great learning environment, which I am comfortable in. The range of subjects offered were the ones I wanted to study, so the decision was easy.”

The College offers courses in A-Level biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, history, sociology, law, economics, psychology, business studies, art and photography. BTEC courses in business studies and engineering.

Trustees, staff and teachers attended the official opening of The Platanos College Sixth Form, on September 11th 2023.
